Man who left pregnant wife for another woman reveals his ‘torment’: ‘She was trying to ruin my life’ – 9Honey

A man who left his pregnant wife for another woman has detailed his "torment", tearing his family and life apart only to come back in the end.

The man, known as Craig, spoke about cheating on his wife Jaclyn in a podcast episode for The Deep, providing a rare account from the side of the "adulterer."

"Everyone thought Jaclyn was the victim of the situation, and I was the enemy," he said, beginning the story of his year-long affair.

"After I shared my feelings and thoughts, everyone was more understanding."

Craig and Jaclyn, whose relationship had previously been described as "couple goals" by their loved ones, were married for several years, had a two-year-old son and were expecting a daughter when he left his family one day.

"My emotions burnt in reaction to that and I left the situation because I thought it was the easiest thing to do," he explained.

He said one day, the stress the couple had endured from work, two pregnancy losses and raising a young family reached breaking point.

Though the business owner claims he didn't "seek out" another woman, he admits his infidelity began as a "slow process."

During his point of confusion and loneliness, Craig says "another person" came along who showed him "emotion and feelings" he didn't share with his wife.

"You fall into a trap that it's easier to leave and love another person," he says.

The pair began an affair that spanned several months, during which time Craig returned to his wife on three occasions, accused her of "faking" her pregnancy, and spent nights out on dates drinking with his other partner.

"I didn't see the consequences, it was just the emotional connection I had she took me out of my reality for six or seven months that I was gone," he says.

"It seems selfish, and it definitely was a selfish decision that I made. It brought me back to my younger years."

While Craig said he "enjoyed" his alternate life, reality kicked in when he returned home to care for his family.

"I truly told myself that I made the decision to move on," he says, but grappled with the guilt of missing out on his toddler's life.

"The only person I was able to talk to was the woman I left for."

The "wild, emotional ride" Craig went on during his affair often resulted in a "tug of war" between his new life with the other woman, and the life he built with his wife.

Things escalated during a trip to the dentist where Craig and his partner were confronted by Jaclyn.

The moment turned into an explosive situation, where Jaclyn discovered he had told his girlfriend she was "faking" her pregnancy, and began a car chase across the city.

"I believed that I just justified it in my brain, there was no conscious idea of not being part of my daughter's birth and her life at the time," Craig admitted.

Even throughout his affair, Craig said he "came back" to his wife on a few occasions, explaining he "definitely missed her", sleeping over and staying by her side.

"Her capacity to support me, to believe in me, to believe in our family throughout the whole process was another underlying factor to 'why am I doing this?'" he said.

"But it was easy to leave the next morning, before she woke up."

When Jaclyn gave birth to the couple's second child together, a daughter, he says he had a moment of clarity.

"I saw the birth and I was part of it. I fell in love with her instantly," he shared, referring to their daughter.

The thought of reuniting his growing family taunted Craig, fracturing the relationship he had built with the other woman.

He told her he would leave her several times, which sparked explosive fights that saw Craig's belongings thrown out onto the stress by his mistress and police called. Yet on the third occasion, he made the life-changing decision.

"One night in the middle of the night I decided to take off," he explained.

"I thanked [the other woman] for the last seven months, for showing me what I truly wanted and needed in my life."

When Craig returned to his family, he says he was "very lucky" to receive the response he did.

"Her family was phenomenal her mum was awesome," he says, noting he was welcomed back with open arms and support as the pair worked on their marriage.

"They were always there and supportive, they just wanted our family back together."

While Jaclyn endured several months of distance, cheating and her husband leaving their entire family to fend for themselves, Craig says the "self-work" she did while he was away was inherent to their repaired relationship.

"She was at a place of peace and understanding and reasoning when I came back," he explained.

However, Craig admits the loving reunion was not instant.

"It's not like I came back and we had this great relationship and we were a family again," he shared, noting, "It took a while a long time."

"I'm just so grateful for her, and showing me this life. We're such a strong family now because we've done that work."
