The Jesus to a Child singer was just 53 when he died suddenly at home on Christmas Day in 2016 - with fans of the late star finding it impossible not to think of him at this time of year.

Many took to Twitter on Christmas Eve to reflect on some of the secret acts of kindness George did when he was alive - including helping strangers who were struggling financially.

One fan recalled how the star would offer money to contestants on day time TV shows when they failed to take home a prize.

A reminder that George Michael, who died 3 years ago tomorrow, used to secretly donate money to Deal or no Deal contestants he felt needed a helping hand, Twitter user Dan Barker wrote.

A woman on Deal or No Deal told us she needed 15k for IVF treatment. George Michael secretly phone the next day and gave her the 15k, he tweeted.

Richard had shared the news originally on Boxing Day 2016 as music fans the world over had mourned the star - with Richards note becoming news to benefactors Steve Davies and his wife Lynette Gillard - who appeared on the show in 2008.

For many years I wondered who had donated this money, and now I know. Thank you. RIP George what an amazing person, Lynette wrote on Twitter after Richard Osman had revealed George had been the one to donate the cash.

As Christmas 2019 approached, others also reflected on the fact that George would also take time out to help the homeless.
