UBC faculty of medicine health professionals are among the recipients of Michael Smith Health Research BC funding for 2021.

Fifteen projects were funded through the Health Professional-Investigator (HP-I) Program. The program helps close the gap between health research and its implementation. HP-I awards are dedicated to support health professionals who are actively involved in patient care to conduct and apply research relevant to health and/or the health system to ultimately improve health outcomes in B.C. and beyond.

The 2021 award competition invited a broad range of health professionals, and this year recipients included psychologists, psychiatric nurses, physicians and dieticians.

Thirteen researchers at UBC and affiliated health research institutions received funding through the program.

Congratulations to our award recipients. The variety of research areas covered by this years HP-I awards is truly exciting, and we hope this funding will help B.C. health professionals bridge the gap between research and care, said Dr. Chonnettia Jones, vice president, research at Michael Smith Health Research BC in a release. We remain committed to strategic investments that ultimately generate and use research for better health and healthcare in B.C. and beyond.
