Hundreds of furry friends up for adoption at 8th Annual PetAPalooza – NEWS10 ABC

BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) Hundreds of furry friends will be on the lookout for their forever homes on Saturday at Curtis Lumbers PetAPalooza.

PetAPalooza, now in its eighth year, is the Capital Regions largest pet adoption event of the year.

Hundreds of pets including dogs, cats, and even rabbits will be available for adoption from more than 80 different organizations. Many organizations will be offering discounts on pet adoption fees.

Curtis Lumbers PetAPalooza ultimate goal is to get as many dogs as possible out of shelters and into loving homes, but there is some fun to be had along the way.

We have the facilities here in our many Curtis Lumber locations. Why not get everyone into one central location and just have a great day, said Kendra Curtis of Curtis Lumber.

Last year over 500 pets were adopted at this event, and for the Curtis family, thats what today is all about.

You get the best animal if you adopt because they are so grateful. They cant do enough for you, Curtis said.

Vendors came out to sell leashes, wacky clothes, and plenty of treats.

Ive got apple cheddar, grain free options like pumpkin paws, peanut butter banana, peanut butter cookie cups, said Jamie Kelly, owner of Treat Truck.

Karen Phillips, a pet communicator can read an animals energy. She used her gift to connect with NEWS10 ABCs reporter Lexi Nahls dog, Muffin.

Shes a very calm dog. Her purpose with you is to actually bring calmness to your life because you have a lot of chaos going on, Phillips said.

Muffin was not the only dog out to play today. Over 3,000 people were expected to come out for a tail wagging good time.

News10 ABCs meteorologist, Steve Caporizzo came out to raise money for a cause near and dear to his heart.

I was made to save animals. All the money goes out to help out the homeless pets and during the year we make a lot of donations to the different animal groups and shelters, Caporizzo said.

The dogs up for adoption at the event walked around wearing red bandanas. They say every dog has its day and today, these dogs might be finding their forever homes!

Multiple Curtis Lumber locations are taking part in the event, and a number of local veterinarians, and food, and pet supply vendors will also be on hand.
