Memphis, Tenn., June 26, 2017 Memphis Animal Services today announced that adoption fees will be reduced to the patriotic price of $17.76 from Sunday, June 25, until Monday, July 3, as part of a partnership with national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society.

MAS had planned to run the promotion as regularly scheduled from July 1-3, but decided to start it a week early. Due to the June daily intake numbers increasing up to 35 animals some days, the shelter is extremely full, and shelter staff hopes that this adoption special helps many pets find homes.

Summer is the time of year when we have the highest number of animals coming in, and we are certainly seeing those overwhelming numbers now, said Alexis Pugh, MAS administrator. We need the communitys help year-round, but especially in summer, to get as many pets adopted as possible! This reduced adoption fee offers a great opportunity to add a pet to your family!

Every adoption at Memphis Animal Services includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccines, heartworm test for dogs or FIV/FeLV test for cats, collar and/or leash, and customized ID tag. Adoptions fees are usually $75 for dogs and $70 for cats. Cat adoptions are already reduced to $10 until the end of June, and they will still be reduced to $17.76 July 1-3. Memphis Animal Services is a member of Best Friends Animal Societys No More Homeless Pets Network*, and both adoption promotions are in partnership with Best Friends.

About Best Friends Animal Society

Best Friends Animal Society is the only national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending the killing of dogs and cats in America's shelters. A leader in the no-kill movement, Best Friends runs lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 1,800 rescue groups and shelters across the country; regional centers in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City; and the nation's largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals. Founded in 1984, Best Friends has helped reduce the number of animals killed in shelters nationwide from 17 million per year to about two million. That means there are still nearly 5,500 dogs and cats killed every day in shelters, just because they dont have safe places to call home. We are determined to get that number to zero by the year 2025. Working together with you, we will end the killing and Save Them All. For more information, visit bestfriends.org.
