“I believe Democrats have a better story to tell women,” Barack Obama told supporters last week and today, according to the New York Times, the party will fire off mailings to a million women in key battleground states around the country. It’ll be followed by special events, house parties and phone banks, all culminating with a special week of action at the end of this month.

The results of the study, which included HIV-negative men and women who used the gel rectally once a day for one week, serve as an important step toward the development and testing of a rectal microbicide to prevent HIV from anal sex.
NEW BEDFORD The Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts is partnering with 25 women’s funds from across the country to increase attention for issues affecting women and girls nationwide. In a press release, the local Women’s Fund said that some politicians are “openly supporting a reversal of women’s rights from attempts to deny them access to contraception to deeming them unfit for military combat.” The aim of the “Calling All Women: Send a Message of Strength” campaign is raising awareness of the inequality that exists and highlighting the change that local and national women’s funds are advancing in communities around the country, according to the news release. “Women continue to experience barriers to full and equitable representation,” said Kate Fentress, executive director of the Women’s Fund of Southeastern Massachusetts.
